Good luck Sully!
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of our leading goal scorer, Dan Sullivan.
Following an impressive display against Taunton Town FC in the recent FA Cup tie and then again in the replay, Dan was approached by the Southern Football League Division One South West side to sign for them.
Dan joined the First team just before the start of this season, from South West Peninsula League side, Bodmin Town FC and has made a massive impact in his short time with the Lambs, scoring 10 goals in 11 starts.
“As much as I am gutted to lose Dan to the Peacocks, I cannot stand in a player’s way, who wants to play at a higher level and is committed to the travelling and time commitment playing in such a league demands,” comments Stuart Henderson, Manager of Tavistock AFC First Team. “I have known Dan for a number of years, as was involved in taking him to Torquay United as a schoolboy, and he has fitted in so well at Tavistock FC.
“That is a testament to Dan, both as a person and a player, but also to his team mates around him. I certainly think the style that we play has suited Dan, and his game has blossomed whilst representing the SWPL champions. For Dan to be in double figures by the middle of September, and nailed on for his biggest return of goals in his non-league career, says a lot about the brand of attacking football we play.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for him to jump a few leagues and use it as a stepping stone to progress to possibly another level. Dan certainly has time on his side, and wants to push himself to play as much as he possibly can. I believe we have other players in both our squad and within the league who could certainly follow suite in terms of their ability, but not everyone wants the travelling, and not everyone has the time with work and family commitments that playing at this level demands.
“At the start of the season a number of people doubted our squad, however, we have started the season in better form than the previous season. I have no doubt we shall miss Dan, however we have 16 players improving and developing all the time and we will certainly be doing everything within our game to be competitive in the SWPL title race.”
“It’s been a real pleasure to play for the Club with a great group of lads. I’ve felt very welcome from the players, staff and supporters,” adds Dan.
“Tavi has a great squad; the depth in the team is good, it has gelled very well, with very very good players. The Club is on the up, pushing for promotion, and it’s growing, with more supporters coming to watch.
“I’ll miss being with the boys. It’s been a good laugh and there’s a good vibe around the changing rooms all the time. It’s been a pleasure to play under Stu, he’s a great manager and he’s helped me to have a good start to the season.
“I am really looking forward to the move, playing at a higher level and challenging myself, it’s another stepping stone forward.”
Sully, it’s been an absolute pleasure having you as a #sexylamb and all of us at the Club wish you all the very best.
