The Lambs produced a really good team performance to defeat their nearest challengers for fourth position in the league table. This has now opened up a five point gap with their rivals.

The visitors got off to a fast start and went on the attack from the whistle, forcing a corner kick in the opening minute. Dave Hallett’s corner kick was headed just wide of the target. The Lambs continued to control the game and spurned a good chance to open the scoring in the 19th minute when good work by Kelvin Fyneboy supply a good cross to Jack Crago but his volley from fifteen yards flew inches over the target. Four minutes later Crago cut in from the flank, his fierce shot was brilliantly tipped over the bar by keeper Prentice.

The home team were awarded a free kick thirty yards from goal but Lowry’s effort was easily dealt with by Jack Ord. Glyn Hobbs then put Crago in on goal, but his left foot shot was inches wide of the target.

In the 40th minute Hobbs and Daw exchanged passes which split open the home defence, putting Crago in on goal, as he rounded the keeper he appeared to be dragged to the ground, but unbelievably the referee waved play on.

The home team forced a corner kick, the ball was cleared but fell to Tom Shephard, his powerful shot was well saved by Ord. Lewis Coombes and Crago combined well to set up a chance for Hobbs, his shot was parried by the keeper, the ball came back to Coombes but his shot hit the post and cleared to safety.

The Lambs, who had dominated the half, had nothing to show for their efforts The deadlock was finally broken the in the 55th minute when Crago forced a corner kick on the left, Hallett provided the perfect cross for Lewis Coombes to head home from eight yards. Three minutes later Crago saw his lob over the advancing keeper go over the cross bar.

The Lambs were not to be denied and increased their lead in the 62nd minute, when another great passing move involving three player put Glyn Hobbs in on goal, he calmly lobbed the ball over the advancing Prentice into the net.

The visitors continued to dominate the game and deservedly increased their lead in the 83rd minute when Coombes and Crago combined well, with the later providing the pass for Glyn Hobbs to fire home from fifteen yards to complete the scoring.

This was a very good performance from the team with everyone on top of their game, against a team that have had some excellent results this season.
