Tavistock Community Under 7s to be mascots against Shepton Mallet Young Lambs to lend their support for important Premier Division clash

TAVISTOCK Football Club are delighted to announce that Tavistock Community Football Club’s Under 7s team will be match day mascots for our clash with Shepton Mallet at Langsford Park.

The football club are keen to forge closer ties with our Community Club and hope that these young Lambs will be our stars of the future – and will one day be wearing the red and black colours of the first team themselves.

Under 7s manager Pete Williams said: “Quite a few of the lads are absolutely buzzing and they literally cannot wait to come out and be a part of the day, part of the action, go out on the pitch and watch the game and everything. They really are looking forward to it.”

The Under 7s are a new team formed this summer and it is the first time that Tavistock Community Club have started a team and they have had a fantastic start to their season so far.

The team is made up of nine players – Reggie, Charlie, Ben, George, Joseph, William, Oliver, Ollie and Tommy – and they have won their first two matches in emphatic style.

“They won 6-1 and 9-0 in their first two games, so quite comprehensive victories, and they are a good group of players,” Pete adds.

“It is the first time that Tavi, as far as I am aware, have done an Under 7s team and they all really love it. It was good to go to Plymouth and do as well as they did. It was a really good atmosphere, a really good environment and thy all really loved it.

“It’s all 5-a-side played at one place in Manadon and a great set up. But all I have heard previously is that Tavistock have been starting at Under 8s and Under 9s and they were getting hammered as the Plymouth teams were starting at Under 7s and they all had a year gelling together.

“Now, we are on an even keel and it makes it more level going forward, so it won’t take us so long to gel.”
