Okehampton Argyle 1 – 1 TAFC 1sts

The visitors started brightly playing some controlled football from defence into attack. The Lambs deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute when Luke Rundle played a terrific cross field ball to find Lewis Edwards on the right flank; he glided past defender, got to the dead ball line, then squared a perfect pass to Jarryd Kelly in the penalty area, who slotted the ball from ten yards. The Lambs continued to control the game but could not turn their greater share of possession into goals. Kelvin Fyneboy shot over the bar when well placed and Dan Follett followed suite minutes later, Towards the end of the first half the hosts were getting a foot hold in the game and started to produce some fine football.

Okehampton started strongly after the interval with both sides playing some fine attacking football, both sides spurned a couple of fine chances to score. In the 65th minute Argyle were awarded a free kick, the kick was planted into the penalty area where Lambs keeper Martin Piper failed to collect the cross at the far post where Matt Barkwell’s low cross come shot from the left  was turned home by Liam Jones to level the scores.

The Lambs then had a great chance to seal victory when they were awarded a penalty when Aaron Hulme was brought down in the penalty area.  Luke Rundle stepped up to take the spot kick which was brilliantly turned around the post by home keeper Harry Geering to ensure the points were shared.

The Lambs got punished for two basic mistakes in this game. Firstly they conceded a goal from a cross that should have been dealt with by the goal keeper, then miss a penalty in the dying minutes, The Lambs played some really good controlled passing football but lacked that cutting edge in the attacking third of the pitch, which is something of a concern.
