TAFC 1sts 2 – 0 Brixham AFC

The lambs bounced back from last weeks defeat to Galmpton, with a well deserved victory over mid table Brixham. Had it not been for a top class performance from visiting keeper Dan Gillard the Lambs would have won even more convincingly.

The home team got off to fast start and almost opened the scoring in the third minute, when Manley was fouled, the free kick took a deflection off the defensive wall for a corner kick. Two minutes later Lewis Edwards crossed from the left wing but Sean Manley’s fierce header was pushed away for a corner kick by keeper Gillard.

The first attempt on the home goal came in the 20th minute but Dobson pull his shot well wide of the target. Dan Gillard then produced a terrific save to deny Dan Follett as he tipped a shot that looked destined for the net over the bar. Thee minutes later Follett was again denied when Gillard produced another fine save

The Lambs continued to dominate the play, Jack Thomas shot over the bar in the 28th minute, before Kelvin Fyneboy latched onto a long ball from Lewis Daw, but his shot was saved by Gillard.

The Lambs almost paid the penalty for these missed opportunities when three minutes before the interval Bowker sliced his shot wide of the target when well placed.

The second half started with the Lambs continuing to dominate the game. A fine move down the left flank saw Josh Robins and Will Stringer exchange passes, but the later shot was easily saved by Gillard.

Five minutes into the half the Lambs took the lead when Kelvin Fyneboy stepped up to bend a great free kick into the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards out, following a foul on Jack Thomas.

Thee minutes later a great ball found Jack Thomas but his shot was turned away for a corner kick, which Gillard collected with ease. Five minutes later Gillard made another stunning save to deny Jack Thomas.

The home started to became a little edgy with Brixham beginning to get a foot hold in the game. Brixham had the ball in the net, but it was disallowed as Manley had been clearly fouled by Bowker.

With five minutes to go Fyneboy got his second goal of the afternoon when he jinked pass two defenders, cut into the penalty are, before rounding Gillard to slot the ball home to secure the points.

This was a good team performance, but once again they failed to score when dominating the game for long periods of play. However it must be said that a great goal keeping performance denied them on several occasions. This win keeps the team in the frame for an exciting run in from now to the end of the season.
